Abstract
Purpose: There are many controversial factors to influence death of prostate cancer patients. We analyzed the factors to affect death about object who expired due to prostate cancer.

Materials and Methods : Ninety-five patients with prostate cancer, who were diagnosed and expired due to prostate cancer at hospitals in Daegu city and Kyungpook area, were reviewed. The risk factors of death due to prostate cancer were analyzed about age, performance status, serum prostate-specific antigen(PSA) level of initial and follow up after 3, 6, 12 month after treatment, clinical stage and Gleason score.

Results: Mean patients¡¯ age was 71.4?8.0 years and mean survival time was 57.1?3.4 months. In a univariate analysis of performance status(p=0.001), PSA at diagnosis(p£¼0.001), PSA at 12 months(p£¼0.001), clinical stage(p=0.023) and Gleason score(p£¼0.001) related mean survival time were significant. However, age(p=0.139), PSA at 3 months(p=0.122) and PSA at 6 months(p=0.255) related mean survival time were not significant. In a multivariate analysis of initial serum PSA level(p£¼0.01), serum PSA level after 12 months(p£¼0.01) after treatment and clinical state(p=0.04) were significant.

Conclusions : Initial serum PSA level, serum PSA level after 12 months after treatment and clinical stage were affecting factors about death of prostate cancer.(
